ESMA Academy courses on industrial digital printing, digital textile printing and functional screen printing can finally announce dates for practical sessions organised at specialised facilities. While working and experimenting in small groups, participants can benefit from the availability of experts, spontaneous know-how exchange and interaction with their peers. All trainings are scheduled for the first half of 2023.
150 alumni have graduated from the ESMA Academy “Industrial Digital Printing” since 2017. The laboratories of Fraunhofer Institute for Production Engineering and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart will open again on 21-22 March 2023 to all those looking for a well-founded overview of piezo inkjet technology or those who consider migrating from analogue to digital. Industry experts and academics accompany participants at work stations dedicated to ink characterisation, determination of print parameters, drying and cleaning mechanisms, print unit engineering and peripherals, evaluation of print quality and colour management. A complementary online course to lay the theoretical groundwork is available on 14-16 November 2022.

“Digital Printing on Textiles” was developed by ESMA in cooperation with the German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research (DITF). After two online courses we invite the participants to apply the acquired knowledge into practice on 25-26 January 2023 at the facilities of DITF in Denkendorf. The course looks closely at material science, textile chemistry, inkjet pre-treatment, inks and ink formulation, printing and print parameters, post-treatment, characterisation of textiles, colour management, and offers a glimpse into a micro factory operation. A complementary online theory course is offered on 12-14 December 2022.

Together with Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM), ESMA offers the newest application-oriented training. This lab-based course focuses on functional printing of electrically conductive structures. Experienced tutors explain and guide participants in screen printing process and required materials. Possible applications in flexible 2D and 3D printed electronics are presented, together with an overview of other technologies. The first edition takes place on 9-11 May 2023 in Bremen.
