The first September weekend welcomed us in Tamm by Stuttgart with windy and rather chilly weather but it got really hot on the pitch when six European teams competed for the trophy funded by their member association, ESMA. Sixteen games were played and in the end it was Lechler who could take the shiny cup home.
In the early morning Jon Bultemeyer from the German host party Marabu presented the team of his co-workers, as well as representations of Fimor (France), Lechler (Italy), MacDermid (United Kingdom), Saati (Italy), Sefar (Switzerland), as well as professional referees and organisers from VfB Tamm. Divided into two groups, the players delivered their career’s best performances to make it through to the semi-finals. Beautiful goals, incredible saves and fierce yet fair fight could not leave the international audience disappointed.
Finally, the undefeated Lechler kept their momentum in the last game of the tournament against Marabu and won the final with 2-0. The third place was taken by Saati, fourth by Sefar, fifth by MacDermid and the brave crew of Fimor ended up sixth. However, there was no differentiation when all players and supporters joined the after-party and unanimously agreed that the ESMA tournament should return not later than in September 2016.
