After the triumphant debut of Screen Print Innovations (SPI) in 2025, the global screen printing community is already buzzing with anticipation for its 2027 return. Scheduled for 15-17 June 2027 at Messe Essen, the second edition of SPI promises to build on the momentum of its inaugural event, which defied expectations and cemented its status as the must-attend gathering for industry professionals.
A Resounding Debut: SPI 2025 Sets the Stage
The first SPI, held in June 2025, exceeded all projections, drawing professionals from 50 countries and uniting suppliers, system developers, and end-users across industries like automotive, printed electronics, luxury packaging, and healthcare. Organised by ESMA, SPI 2025 showcased the resilience and innovation of screen printing technology. As Jon Bultemeyer and Robin McMillan of ESMA noted in their opening remarks, “Focused, niche events are replacing mega trade shows. Targeted audiences create community, not anonymity.”
The event’s Innovation Theatre was a standout feature, offering real-world case studies on cutting-edge applications, from smart textiles to hydrogen fuel cell components. Exhibitors and attendees alike praised the show’s ability to foster meaningful connections. “SPI 2025 marked a turning point for our industry,” said Blaž Mur, CEO of INO, while Stefan Zäh of Pröll declared, “Screen printing has a new home base!”
2027: Bigger, Bolder, and More Connected
With 30 exhibitors already confirmed and the booked exhibition space already surpassing the total from 2025, SPI 2027 is on track to be even more impactful. Major names have secured their spots, signalling strong industry confidence. But the excitement doesn’t stop there: SPI 2027 will introduce a dedicated matchmaking area, bridging the gap between universities, research centres, and employers. This new initiative will allow students to showcase their projects, institutions to highlight their programmes, and companies to connect with future talent – ensuring the industry’s pipeline remains robust.
The Innovation Theatre will return with new technology users – from printers to brand owners – sharing insights on screen printing’s role in niche markets. As Aad van der Spuij of Henkel reflected after SPI 2025, “The show offered a unique perspective on the latest trends and technologies.”
Why SPI Matters
In an era where industrial and functional printing are thriving, SPI stands as the only trade show exclusively dedicated to screen printing. Its success in 2025 proved that the technology is not just surviving but evolving, driving innovation in sectors like printed electronics, touch screens, and fuel cells. With last exhibition spaces still available, SPI 2027 is poised to be the definitive meeting point for the global screen printing community.
