Heinz Brocker, ESMA Honourable AmbassadorESMA’s first Networking Day met with a great response: Over 100 print service providers, suppliers, and researchers joined the event on the 20th of September 2023 in Wuppertal to exchange ideas, discuss business opportunities and simply enjoy the friendly setting.
Programme started with keynote presentations at the Faculty of Print and Media Technology at the University of Wuppertal. Dr Daniel Bohn opened the session with a question: “How to improve cooperation between industry and academia?”, and Philipp Hoelzl from Elantas followed with an overview of innovative printed electronics applications.
In the audience were representatives of iarigai, the International Association of Research Organisations for the Information, Media and Graphic Arts Industries, who valued the opportunity to meet with leading industry players, with several ESMA members among them. Later, young academics demonstrated their research on such diverse topics like spectral measurement, AI for fashion or multi-media publishing.
The second half of the day was hosted by SPS TechnoScreen, leading manufacturer of screen printing equipment. Participants received comprehensive tours of SPS’ machine park and the networking continued at a tabletop exhibition which featured major print technology suppliers.
One of the event’s highlights was the awarding of ESMA Honourable Ambassador title to Heinz Brocker, recently retired from his position of Senior Vice President Screeny at Gallus Ferd. Ruesch AG. “This award is a call to all of us to ‘see beyond the end of our own nose’ and think outside the box,” said Heinz Brocker in his acceptance speech, “ESMA is the platform to connect people and technology. It is on us as manufacturers and suppliers to cooperate and create innovative solutions. I see that as our key role for a successful future.”
